Dale Joseph O’Connor 62 of Aurora, Colorado died unexpectedly in his home on 12/31/2020. Dale was preceded in death by two brothers Timothy and Steve, his mother Donna, his grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

Dale was born on 09/21/1958 to Donna Lammers and Harry Waters in Lake City, Iowa.  Dale was adopted by Darwin O’Connor early in his life and grew up in Carrol, Iowa.  Dale attended Mount Carmel Catholic school and Carroll High School. After graduation, Dale joined the Army and was a dedicated soldier serving tours in Germany, Saudi Arabia, Fort Campbell, KY as a member of a 101st Airborne Division unit and at Fort Carson, CO.

Following his military service, Dale went to work at the Colorado Department of Corrections where he worked as a Sergeant then Case Manager until his retirement in 2015. He was an active member of the Rocky Mountain Eagles Chapter of the 101st Airborne Division Association.  Dale also spent time as a volunteer for Colorado Wins.

Anyone who knew Dale knew he had a quirky sense of humor.  Although he could be gruff, underneath his rough exterior he had a heart of gold and was a kind, loving and giving man. Dale is survived by his father Darwin O’Connor of Carroll Iowa, his Brother Brian O’Connor (IA) daughters Erin O’Connor (Phoenix, AZ), Sherri Podue (Colorado Springs, CO) step-daughters Tristan Waggoner (Kailua, HI) and Emily Mueller (La Junta, CO), his grandson Asher Waggoner and his wife of ten years, Trisha Brisendine, with happy memories of a life cut short.  He will be missed.

Memorial services will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in March of 2021 with a date to be published.
